Another children's cookbook by Mollie Katzen, the recipes in Honest Pretzels child-friendly in both taste and preparation. Geared towards ages eight and up, most recipes require just a little adult assistance, usually with knifes, ovens/stoves and boiling water. The recipes are a little more challenging in both how the recipes are written (more words, fewer pictures) and in the techniques and coordination required.
As with Pretend Soup, the recipes are designed so that the children can run the show. The two-part directions-ingredients, equipment and safety tips, followed by the step-by-step numbered illustrated recipe will help children learn skills such as sequencing, reading, mathematics, and logic as well as encouraging self-confidence as they help prepare family meals.
